Shortly after I moved to Nebraska, I met one of the most genuinely excited people I have ever met. Her name is Marci. Marci loves life, approaches every challenge and each day with a positive can-do attitude. She also happens to be the mother of four beautiful and amazing daughters! She has raised and instilled the same positive spirit and attitude in them. She once told me, “I don’t believe there are morning people, night people, whatever! Choosing to be what you are at any given time of the day is a choice. If you want to be happy, if you want to be mad, if you want to love life or hate it, it is a choice. It’ a choice you decide.” Now that is calling it like it is and a bit of incredible wisdom. But Marci and her girls are absolutely right. It’s up to me to decide if it’s a good day or a bad day. I know that there will be outside things to deal with, but ultimately, I decide my reactions and attitude.
I thought of Marci and her daughters when I saw this quote and picture. Voltaire’s words sum it up, “The most important decision you make is to be in a good mood.”
Deciding your mood or attitude towards the day or towards a person or subject is key. It’s the foundation for your actions, words, thoughts and decisions. It also determines the tone and often the overall impact.
It’s Friday! Hopefully your week has been a good one. I also hope your weekend will be wonderful. I challenge you to ponder Voltaire’s words and see how you might apply his wisdom. Have a good one and may you determine your happiness with a smile!
