We all have that one show from our childhood that sticks with us. When I was on Facebook the other day I saw a post about Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood which struck a chord. Growing up that was my favorite show. I have so many memories watching it, even ones that most people don’t believe, but we won’t get into that.
Now if you don’t know the premise of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood I will help you out. Fred Rogers was the star of the show, talking to his viewers as if they were his friends. The show had a broad range of topics from the alphabet to music and usually during each episode you would take a trip to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe with the trolley. There were life lessons to be learned and fun to be had.
“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.” I love this quote. No matter who we meet, we leave a little bit of ourselves with them.
We see that in the hospitality world every day. We meet so many people day in and day out; we don’t only leave something from ourselves behind, but we pick something up from those we meet. We pick up the things that make us better and hopefully leave behind things that will make those who we’ve met better.
Just remember, that whether you have briefly met someone or they are your best friend that we always take something from those who we meet, but we also leave a part of us behind. We leave our mark on those people and will forever be a part of them. So try to be the best you can be.
It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood!
