I love weddings. I think you all know that by now, but working on revamping how The Leadership Center hosts weddings has been an incredibly fun project to work on. It has allowed me to spread my wings and sharpen my skills. It has also allowed me to refine what we currently offer and create many new amenities for our couples. This past weekend was the kickoff of one of my new wedding offerings here at The Leadership Center. The first TLC Special Event Showcase: Experience the Magic was a huge success and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
When I give a wedding tour to a potential bride and groom, I usually am asked whether we provide a tasting for our couples. In the past, we have not provided one, but this was something I wanted to change. When I was working on our new amenities, I wanted to
incorporate that into something that we offer to our brides and grooms. I worked with several of our preferred vendors to create not just a tasting, but also a showcase where they are able to taste our food and view what some of our preferred vendors have to offer. We were fortunate to have The Old Homestead Market and Floral, Honeysuckle Lane, Elite Event Rentals and Flowers by Miranda displaying on Saturday.
The showcase took place in three parts. The first part of the event allowed the couples to navigate through the vendors and look at what they had displayed. The couples could ask questions and really get a feel for the vendors. The second part was the actual tasting of the food. The guests received a scorecard when they arrived which listed the tasting menu and included a description of each
of our vendors. The scorecard also provided the couples with a section to take notes on the food and the vendors. We had a couple of servers serving each menu item to our guests. Once the tasting concluded, the final part of the event was conversations with me. We talked through questions they might have had and then setup consultation appointments. The couples also had more time to look at the vendors if they wanted.
Our vendors created beautiful displays and I was incredibly excited to show them off! Our guests loved being able to view the different vendors and see what options they had. The Old Homestead Market and Floral and Honeysuckle Lane are the two floral shops here in town. They both create beautiful arrangements including bouquets, boutonnieres, etc . Flowers by Miranda is business that creates custom silk bouquets, centerpieces, etc. Elite Event Rentals out of Lincoln is a one-stop shop for rentals including linens, serving ware, décor, dance floor, etc. We have developed wonderful relationships with all of these vendors and I am so grateful they agreed to be a part of our tasting. I wanted to highlight vendors at the tasting because I know that the entire planning process can be overwhelming because there are so many options. My hope was that by showcasing vendors that we have successfully worked with and developed a relationship with that it would help ease some of the stress in searching for vendors.
I wanted the actual tasting part to be an experience, so we had a little fun with the displays and the presentation. Here at The Leadership Center our guests have the option to pick from our menu and create a beautiful plate. I wanted our guests to have that option at the tasting, so we displayed a full size portion of each menu item on small serving plates so the guests could move the food around and visualize different meals. This not only made a beautiful display, but allowed our couples to be creative.
My goal with our new tastings is to create a special atmosphere for our brides and grooms. I want them to enjoy the process of planning their wedding. The couples get to experience how we setup for weddings, how we serve our couples and how we take the time to care for them and make their weddings truly magical. Weddings are incredibly special here at The Leadership Center and my hope was to set the tone for what our couples can expect by choosing to host their weddings here.
Saturday truly was a magical night and a success. I am excited to take on this venture. I am excited by the response from Saturday night and have already envisioned how to grow this in the future. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity I was given to take an idea and make it reality. It is allowing me to leave a lasting mark on The Leadership Center. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
