Summer at TLC

I can’t believe summer is just around the corner! Time sure does fly when you are having fun. While we are busy throughout the year, summer is the busiest time for us. Starting in May through August our building is buzzing with FFA, leadership conferences, summer camps, weddings, family reunions and fundraisers…just to name a few events. I wanted to take some time to tell you about some cool events that we get to be a part of this summer.

First up is COLT. COLT is Chapter Officer Leadership Training with the Nebraska FFA. The Leadership Center was originally founded for the FFA’s leadership conferences so we always love having them in the building. It’s fun getting to know the officers, getting to see lifelong relationships develop and being a part of some really special moments. COLT is never short of great storytelling, laughs and creating memories and I am sure this year won’t be any different!

Once COLT has wrapped up, we get to welcome Camp Summergold which will be it’s second year hosting there camp with us. Camp Summergold is a wonderful STEAM camp for middle and high school girls. They spend a week with us learning about arts and science while building community and cultivating self-esteem, confidence and so many other wonderful skills. Camp Summergold provides a safe space for girls to learn and grow and The Leadership Center is so incredibly proud to be a part of this camp. If you are interested in learning more about the camp you can check out their website here.

A few weeks after Camp Summergold leaves, we welcome the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery out of Vermont. We are very excited to welcome the Copeland Center to The Leadership Center for their first retreat with us. Our quiet grounds will be the perfect location for their retreat and the work they hope to accomplish while here.

The  Leadership Center is also hosting several D4LC’s this summer. D4LC is a leadership conference which The Leadership Center staff developed 4 years ago. It is available to youth, college students and adults. It’s a different kind of leadership conference that is largely service based. D4LC is something that The Leadership Center staff is incredibly proud of and enjoys. We love getting to spend time with the attendees and making connections with them. If you are interested on D4LC and what different types of conferences there are, please call and talk to Kurt or Maile.

Besides conferences, retreats and camps, we also have many family reunions returning this summer. Not only do we have some of our favorite families returning, we also have several new families hosting their reunions with us. Our staff loves family reunions because we get to see some of our favorite clients who have been with us for years, but we get to see families enjoying each other and having fun! Our family reunions love getting to use the paddleboats, the bonfire pits and the swimming pool. One other awesome amenity they get to utilize is complimentary tickets to both The Plainsman Museum and The Edgerton Explorit Center. We love partnering with local businesses and showcasing what Aurora has to offer. The tickets have been a huge hit with our family reunions!

In-between everything going on, we have been able to fit in some weddings this summer! We a few fun weddings this summer and then some more this fall. Our brides and grooms love the flexibility our facility provides, as well as, the service. So many great services are included in rental prices, which makes the entire wedding process a little bit easier for our couples. We want to make your big day as special and stress free as we possibly can! If you are interested in what The Leadership Center has to offer for weddings click here to find out more or give us a call and ask for Micheala.

Last but not least, this summer we are hosting our 4th annual An Evening Stroll fundraiser! This year is our 50th anniversary, we were founded in 1968 and the theme for our fundraiser is 1968. We hope that all of our attendees transport back to 1968 and come fully decked out. There will be a costume contest, amazing

An Evening Stroll

décor and delicious food that will take you right back to 1968! An Evening Stroll fundraiser starts with appetizers and cocktails, then there will be a delicious meal along with a live and silent auction, and the evening will end out by the bonfire with dessert and drinks. The Leadership Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that does not receive government funding or funding from an outside source so we rely on fundraising to help us with renovations, new and improved amenities for guests, tearing out and replanting the tree line and so much more! Our fundraising efforts allow us to continue to improve upon the experience we are able to provide our guests who travel from all over the state, country and world to enjoy not just The leadership Center, but Aurora, Nebraska. We are fortunate to have wonderful donors, but we are working on expanding our donor list and hope that some of you want to help us create moments that matter! We are so excited for this fundraiser and are looking forward to having some fun! If you are interested in attending our fundraiser or donating to The Leadership Center, please give us a call at (402) 694-3934.

These are just a few things that we have going on this summer. As you can see, we have a jam-packed summer ahead of us, but we are excited for what that entails. It means getting to see some of our favorite people, meeting new ones, having fun and creating a lasting impact on our guests. That is something we take pride in and enjoy. If you are someone attending an event here this summer, we look forward to spending time with you. If you are someone who wants to attend or host an event here give us a call, we would love to have you!

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and hope to see you soon!
