Weddings. One of the most important days of your life. A day to celebrate love, families melding and the beginning of a lifetime together. Weddings should be a reflection of the couple getting married. Weddings should be unique, but many times people neglect making their wedding uniquely theirs. Continue reading to find out how you can make your wedding perfectly reflect you and your significant other.
- Themed Weddings. Themed weddings are a great way to highlight what makes you unique as a couple. This summer we had a couple who had a Doctor Who themed wedding. It was a wedding that was true to them. If you are comic book nerds, then why not have a wedding themed around your favorite comic book. I have seen weddings that were carnival themed because the couple met at a county fair and those were important to them. There is a way to make a theme out of many different things. Not sure how to do it, then ask someone or you can always consult Pinterest.
- Special Food. Is there a food that you and your fiancé love to eat? A food that is special to you two? Then add it to your wedding! I had a bride once who’s fiancé loved pizza so later into the reception she had our kitchen cook up some pizzas for her fiancé. I had a couple who hated cake, so they had a pie table instead and the pie the cut was a pecan pie, which was their favorite pie. There is a way to add your favorite food to your reception and a way to make it fun.
- Décor. Make the décor of your wedding and reception reflective of who you are. If you go with a themed wedding, then make sure your wedding décor follows that theme. Even if you aren’t doing a crazy over the top themed wedding, you can cater your décor towards a certain theme. I had a wedding this summer and the couple loved books and Scrabble so they had books on the table along with cute phrases written with Scrabble pieces. It was a fun and personal touch to their wedding. Another fun way to make your wedding more personal is to include pictures of you as a couple on the tables. That is a great way to use your engagement photos or to include some of your favorite photos taken throughout your relationship.
- Favors. A wedding this summer had a cookie as their favor. On the wrapped cookie it said, “It all started with a cookie.” It was such a cute and personal favor idea that many guests will remember. Try to stay away from the traditional and overused favor ideas and make your favors more personal and something that have meaning. The cookie was clever. I have seen where couples have handled out flower paper for people to plant and their guests can watch the flowers grow. You could also steal an idea similar to the cookie and pass out your favorite candy. A clever pun is always appreciated too. No matter what you choose, make sure to have fun with your favors.
As I said, weddings are meant to be a celebration of a couple starting their lives together so make sure you treat it that way. Have fun with it and be creative. Highlight you and your fiancé as a couple and what makes your love unique!
Have a great day!!
