Hey everyone! I’m Abby Williams and I am one of the new interns here at The Leadership Center. I am a Political Science Major with a Sociology and Global Studies Minor at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I’m hoping that my education will lead me into working with non-profits. I grew up in Doniphan with my amazing parents and four adventurous brothers. There was never a dull moment with them. Where I grew up and how I grew up ultimately made me the person I am today.

I enjoy any type of outside activities and I love being active in every way possible. I thoroughly enjoy cooking for my family and impressing them with my below average kitchen skills. Although Nebraska is one of the flattest states and I dread the coldness of the winter, I dream daily of sliding down a mountain with my snowboard. When I’m not day dreaming of snowboarding, my head is then filled with any kind of music. From Johnny Cash to Fergie, I enjoy it all. On summer nights, I love digging my feet into the sand of outside volleyball courts and reliving my glory days of being an all-star libero. I get a good laugh when I pretend to be a middle blocker with my miniscule vertical and 5’4 height. If I had to use three words to describe myself, those would include adventurous, genuine and kind.

Just from my three days here at The Leadership Center as an intern, I’ve felt the warm welcoming’s from everyone around me. I’m so excited to be able to work with these awesome people and achieve some impressive tasks this summer.  I’m also looking forward to gaining experience in the many different areas offered here at The Leadership Center. This is such a great opportunity to help me further my career development, work skills, and experience with the non-profit world.

One event I am looking forward to this summer, is the D4LC. I am eager to learn more about it and experience the growth within myself and other people as well. It’s inspiring to watch someone go out of their comfort zone and see the achievements they made within themselves. The opportunities offered here are endless. There is always a new opportunity for learning and that’s one thing I am most excited about.
