As I wrap up my time in the office, I have been reflecting back on 2019. It has been quite the year full of lots of ups and downs, both professionally and personally. So many things happened this year that helped make this one of the best years yet.

The beginning of the year wasn’t the best, we unfortunately saw tremendous flooding which affected some of the groups that we had contracted with. It was devastating and caused so much loss. I am grateful that we didn’t see what everyone else saw, but my heart goes out to everyone that has been effected.

We had quite a busy summer though. My interns Abby and Elizabeth joined the team and were a great addition. They fit right in and jumped right in to help out wherever they were needed. One of their favorite tasks was working with the Summer Food Program. They loved serving the kids and getting to interact with them. This summer we worked on several projects include cleaning up the tree line and painting the cabins. We all had so much fun together and there never was a shortage of hard work or laughter. We also were able to do something great; the Salvation Army’s camp was flooded and deemed a total loss and we were able to provide them space for some of their camps. They were such a fun group to work with and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

At some point this year between rainstorms, we were able to break ground on our outdoor space. I am so excited to be able to finally use this outdoor space. It’s going to be beautiful and something I think so many people are going to utilize. We already have big plans for it and can’t wait to unveil the finished product.

This fall has been almost as busy as our summer. It’s great to be able to stay busy and even better when we bring in new groups and get to showcase what we do. And our fall fundraiser turned out beautifully and was a huge success.

This year has been great and some of my favorite things this year were the memories that I created during our staff clean-up days and staff fun day. The fundraiser was so much fun and the food was delicious. And finally, I loved the Delectable Creations classes that we started this year. So many people attended and had a great time. I even picked up some tips throughout the year.

Overall, 2019 has been a great year full of lots of growth and progress. I have learned a lot about myself both personally and professionally. I am looking forward to lots more wonderful things in 2020 and much more success and growth in the New Year. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, Happy New Year and that you 2020 is filled with wonderful things!
