I was a wide-eyed student sitting in class with my peers when we got the message saying we would no longer meet in person and that everything was going to be online for a while. I was so confused but hopeful that this time period would last a month at the longest so we could get back to actual classroom instruction. Wow, wasn’t I very wrong?
I’ve been back in my hometown of Doniphan with my family. I had the opportunity to watch a great family over the spring and summer months. I absolutely adore them. Those kiddos reminded me that it’s good to have bare feet so you can feel the earth with your tootsies. I am also very thankful for the time I got with my family that I otherwise
would’ve never gotten. I think they got sick of all the Guinness chocolate cake I perfected. I mean if mom and dad are buying groceries, why not bake everything that I’m craving? I’m not paying those grocery bills!
I had pictured this summer being very laid back. I am an avid concert junkie but my last concert I went to was Parker McCollum on February 29, 2020. I was saddened by not being able to be around live music. I do look forward to the day where strangers can hear me singing to my lukewarm beer. I thought I wouldn’t be very busy this summer, but I was very wrong, yet again!
From my words above, I’ve been wrong about a couple things during this strange time. Here’s one more thing I was wrong about. I thought I would go crazy from staying with my family as a college students. I didn’t and I survived. Ultimately, I got the gift of time with them.
