Started in 1928 by three vocational agriculture teachers, The Nebraska Youth Leadership Development Center sat on just twenty-seven acres. It was home to only a few FFA camps a year. Forty-four years later, what is now known as The Leadership Center (TLC), sits on 43 1/2 acres and the family-friendly facilities have been used by nearly 40,000 people a year stretching from all across Nebraska, The United States, and even some countries around the world. We have been the host of weddings, family reunions, conferences, and meetings. Our guests have been given the chance to expand their leadership abilities, fulfill company ambitions, or retreat and enjoy various recreational activities, all while making life long memories.
Throughout the years, TLC has been transformed and given the chance to grow with the support of our clients, donors and people like you. The majority of our facility has been built and maintained through the generosity of numerous contributions. The Leadership Center has set high goals to continue to make our guests feel at home.
Some of these goals include:
- Refurbishing Kiewit Lodge with new beds and linens
- Reroofing the main building
- Updating tables and chairs
- Renewing kitchen utilities
- Landscaping and grounds improvements
- Overall update of facilities and fixtures
We have a desire to continue to offer our services for many years to come. The Leadership Center is happy to serve people like you. We invite you to be a part of our legacy. Your donation impacts not just one person, but guests for the next 20 years will be able to have great experiences like you. When donating your gift, look into your donation options. Project Treeline: In an effort beautify our property and to leave a sustainable legacy, in the summer of 2017, we began replacing a portion our treeline. We took out about 400 feet of trees that needed replacement and put in Blue Spruce, Chanticleer Pear and Red Dogwood Trees. We are grateful to Luthy Tree Farms, our Intern and resident Lumberjack, Andrew Stolpe and our staff for working so hard to clear the trees, keep our neighbors informed and to see this project to fruition. The project cost $10,000. We have received a donation for the Lancaster Farm Bureau for $100.00. For more information on how to donate, please click here. Thank you. The 4th Annual Evening Stroll is July 14, 2018 right here at The Leadership Center. Tickets will be available later this year. Last year we raised just shy of $9,500.00 towards replacement of Ted Ward Lodge’s storm totaled roof. 2018, we’ve have big fundraising goals and with the Evening Stroll, we’re hoping to raise $30,000.00. The Forth Annual Harvest Gala
The Third Annual Harvest Gala was an incredible success, raising nearly $21,000.00 toward renovations of lodge rooms and facility updates. Those who attended enjoyed delicious food, a variety of wines and beers, auctions and dancing. We have so many to thank for making this evening the success it was. Our 4th Annual Harvest Gala is scheduled for November 17, 2018. We are so excited to make this our final toast to our 50th year in service. We have a huge fun-raising goal of $50,000.00. Make plans to join us in the fun. Tickets will be on sale in August.
