The D4LC: Explore Conference is in its fourth year and is the foundational component to our leadership training program.  Designed for youth and young adults ages 13 to 19, D4LC: Explore consists of two days of leadership education, practice, and reflection in the areas of Community, Service, Relationships, Interpersonal Development, Gratitude, and more. We include an emphasis on professional etiquette, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles as well.

When designing this conference, we really took the time to think about where the important conversations happen and for most it is the car, the kitchen table and the living room. We designed the setup to embody the kitchen and the living room. We also took to heart the things we wished we had learned or saw folks teaching now. Instead of saying “this is what a leader looks like”, we ask, “Who are you? What makes you, you? And how can you lead as you are?” It’s simple, but in so many ways, it’s a game changer.

Our 2018 Summer D4LC:Explore Sessions are done. We are looking to add some Fall and Winter dates, so stop back in or contact us. We also offer a 1 Day Mobile Explore Conference for schools and organizations. If you are interested, contact Kurt.

D4LC Orienteers are key members of The Leadership Center staff.  Once trained, Orienteers are placed in leadership roles during our D4LC: Explore Conferences.  They lead groups in our conference communities, educate students in leadership development, and serve as role models to ‘Explore’ participants.  A D4LC Orienteer is our version of the traditional “camp counselor”.

The Orienteer Program is more akin to an internship than a summer job.  We seek out young adults (18-20) who are interested in leading, teaching, and growing in a community.  Maturity, integrity, and high moral character are required. Here is the application: orienteer-application Deadline is June 1, 2018.
