How is it June already? Are you still reading?

I really thought I would have a blog out in May. I really did. But the truth is, May is our busiest month and blogging was so far from my mind.

Now it's June so I am back at it!

What have you been reading these days? I went through this funk where it I was listening to World War II books and readying scientific studies about the human brain. I found it facinating but all of sudden, I needed some lighter reading. Someone suggested "The Glass Library" series to me. It was enjoyable. It led me to the "Glass and Steele" series by CJ Archer. I also dived into "Letter to a Stranger: Essays to the Ones who Haunt Us" by Colleen Kinder and "The Art of Logic in an Illogical World" by Eugenia Cheng.

I want to share where we are at with our very BIG CHALLENGE!

To date, we have read 257 books. That leaves us 1,768 books left before December 31st. I am confident we'll ge there.

We've read a total of 87,034 pages which averages 339 pages per book. Our shortest book read was 22 pages long and the longest has been 830 pages. I absolultely LOVE the range. We also love that our youngest reader is in the FIRST GRADE! Our hearts are so happy about this.

We've had lots of questions about the Worldwide Reading Challenge so I thought I would take some time to answer them.

  1. Who can participate in the Worldwide Reading Challenge?
    1. Everyone! We don't care where you live and who you are and how old you are. We want to encourage reading.
  2. I have a daycare and read lots of little books, are those okay?
    1. YES!!!! It's in those storytimes that new readers are created. Keep reading and when you can, list all those books!
  3. Can I count a book that I have re-read?
    1. YES! Of course. Honestly, I have three or four books that when I don't have something to read, I read one of those.
  4. Can I join now?
    1. You can join anytime during the year. We are so excited to have you.
  5. Can I read 'spicy' books?
    1. Yes. We have no limits to what you can read. We just want to celebrate that you are reading.
  6. I am reading the Bible this year, can I record that?
    1. Yes. Absolutely. Record as 1 book or record each book of the Bible as you go. Again, we are limiting the types of books you can read. We just want to celebrate reading and share what we're reading.
  7. What does it cost to be a part of the Worldwide Reading Challenge?
    1. It's FREE!
  8. Can someone help me log my books?
    1. Yes, if you can stop in at Espressions: Coffee & Community, we're happy to help!
  9. Where do I get a fun Worldwide Reading Challege bookmark and sticker?
    1. Stop in at Espressions or when you fill in your book log, request one! We'll send it to you!!
  10. Where do I find what everyone is reading?
    1. RIght here: Worldwide Reading Challenge
