For nearly 30 years, an incredible group of artists have converged on The Leadership Center to spend time creating, fellowship, and enjoying a beautiful week with friends.
Art Run Away was founded by the sweetest person, Steph Hansen. For many years, she organized this retreat and invited artists from all over to join her on a week of creating and fellowship. About 5 years ago, The Leadership Center took over this event to ease the administration of it all. As many know, our dear friend, Steph passed away after fiercely battling cancer. Through it all, she found time to create art, laughter, and joy everywhere she went. She encouraged us to continue to offer this time to encourage others to create art, laughter, and joy too! Whether you knew her or not, if you are an artist who wants to create art in a space that is warm and welcoming, please consider joining us. This time is open to any artist looking to retreat and work on their art. There are several "regulars" every year as well as "new" friends. ALL ARE WELCOME.
The Leadership Center is handling the reservations for this event. You will be able to purchase your event package and your lodging here! If you have issues registering, please do not hesitate to call 402-694-3934 and speak with Maile.
All attending will get an 8ft table and chair. We'll be sure to have an area for Happy Hour too, so feel free to bring the necessary supplies! Also, please bring floor and table coverings as they are required and all the things you need for your creations! We will be able to do copies: B/W $0.25, Colored: $0.50.
Madison from Revitalize will be onsite again. She offers massages as well as facials and waxing. She is looking forward to seeing you all here. We will have a sign up for services upon arrival. Madison will handle payment for her services.
When you arrive for Run Away, doors will open at 9 a.m. Your rooms and studio will be open and ready for you! That means you can come in, unpack and get your ART ON! Your first meal isn't until supper at 5:30 p.m. Of course there are plenty of restaurants for you to visit for lunch. We'll be sure to have a list for you.
A Couple of Registration Notes:
- If you are attending the entire Art Run Away, you'll select that package and you are done!
- If you are attending the entire Art Run Away and staying with us, select the appropriate lodging package: single, multiple or multiple- split (allows your roommate to pay half.)
- If you aren't attending the full event, you can go through and select the event package for the days you are.
- If you aren't attending the full event and staying with us, please select the days you are attending and the appropriate lodging package: single, multiple, multiple-split (allows your roommate to pay half) for the days you are staying with us.
While we ask that you do your registration online through Eventbrite, should you like to do your lodging over the phone with us, you are SO WELCOME to do so! Just give us a call.

Things to consider when attending the Winter Art Run Away:
- Your meals are covered in your fees. This includes breakfast at 8:00 a.m., Lunch at Noon, and Supper at 5:30 p.m. Please note your first meal will be Sunday Supper and meals will conclude after Friday Lunch.
- You will have access to our beverage station during the Run Away.
- Pack up all the projects you are hoping to create, work on, and/or finish while at Run Away. Come to work as much or as little as you like!
- Bring table and floor coverings.
- Load up your supplies, easles, and such, so you can work on all your projects.
- Consider packing head phones, iPad or computer to use during your work times.
- We are able to print things that you need. B&W: $0.25 and Colored: $0.50 per copy.
- If you are in need of supplies, we do have a grocery store, Dollar General, and hardware store in town. We are also approximately 25 minutes from Grand Island where there is a Walmart and Hobby Lobby along with serveral other stores.
- You will have access to the pool and sauna while you are here.
- Madison Berthelsen will be on hand to do massages that can be booked with her during the retreat. Payments will go directly to her.
- Traditionally, there is Happy Hour before Supper. Please feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy. This is not organized by The Leadership Center.
