SAIL Day #2
Set goal. Set Plans. Set Sail.
Set your SAE, work-based learning project, or business, up for success!
Who is this for?
High school students who are interested in strengthening their Supervised Agricultural Experience, work-based learning project, or business.
What do Sailors get?
Sailors will receive intentional, goal driven mentorship by crew directors from The Leadership Center, record book experts, and successful students to strengthen new or existing SAE's or work-based learning projects and learn how to keep records, set goals, and other skills. PLUS network and meet other students and have tons of fun.
When is it?
Sail is a 1 day conference with options for lodging before and after for individuals or groups!
In life, we will take part in many journeys: some big, some small, some hard, some easy, some challenge us, and most form us. Some journeys are designed to be taken alone; you are the captain, the skipper, the navigator, the engineer, and everything in between. Some journeys, though, are not meant to be that way.
One of these is the search for a fulfilling career.
The Leadership Center is seeking students who are not afraid to take a new route, not afraid to try a new destination, and who will commit to the journey. It’s okay if you’ve never captained anything like this before, that’s why we are here!
If accepted to set “Sail” with The Leadership Center, students will remain the captain of their journey, but we will join their crew. Sometimes, the student needs an engineer to help solve problems, a skipper to double check their safety, or help reading the map: where should they go next? More importantly, where could they go next?!
**If students have a computer, please bring it with.

Friday Night Murder Club
"Cain's Jawbone" is a murder mystery puzzle written by "Torquemada"-Edward Powys Mathers. The puzzle was first published in 1934 as part of The Torquemada Puzzle Book. In 2019, crowdfunding publisher Unbound published a new stand-alone edition of the puzzle in collaboration with the charity The Laurence Sterne Trust.
Cain's Jawbone has been described as "one of the hardest and most beguiling word puzzles ever published. This summer, we're hosting "Friday Night Murder Club" at Espressions. Our hope is to transform a shop wall into a crime board as we work to solve the 6 murders in the book. Join us for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat as we move the pages around in this great mystery looking for the solution. Come when you can or come each Friday! We'll see you there.
It is not nessary, but if you'd like to get a copy of "Cain's Jawbone", we have a link below.
Game Night at Espressions

This event allows us to provide a space for our community to gather, connect, and enjoy some fun over coffee.
We hope you'll join us!

TLC House Concert featuring Champagne Sunday
In partnership with BeNt Shadows House Concerts & Cindy McClellan, we are hosting a house concert at The Leadership Center featuring the ever-talented Champagne Sunday.
As we head into another season of house concerts, we have made a couple of changes. The first is that when the shows are at The Leadership Center, we will not be offering a meal prior to the show. The house concert will take place from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
The show will be in our Lakeside room, fireside. We will offer spaced-out seating, including soft seating as well as tables & chairs. As with all of Cindy's House Concerts, it is BYOB if you'd like, with a suggested donation of $20.00. All funds collected at the door will go to the artist.
At intermission, we'll offer a selection of tasty baked goods (including a few gluten-free ones) and coffee or tea for all to enjoy.
Now more about Champagne Sunday:
Self-described as “glam folk”, the artistic Tacoma husband and wife duo of Jessi and Jared Fredeen consistently push their music into some interesting new territories. Routinely playing a relentlessly packed schedule of shows, Champagne Sunday thrive in live settings, communing with crowds and often sharing stories that further illuminate their songs and performances. Whether in clubs, festival stages, or smaller venues, Champagne Sunday have the ability to lock in with their audiences and transport them somewhere special.
While a lot of acoustic acts tend to focus on the hardships that we face, Champagne Sunday flips that narrative playfully on its head with an emphasis on the joyful, upbeat and (dare we say) optimistic aspects of life. Even so, they accentuate their happiness and whimsy with shades of the more stark and melancholy, which makes for an emotional rollercoaster of a show.
They’re lovable. They’re fun. They’re edgy. They’re unique. They’re not to be missed.
Again, suggested donation at the door for Champagne Sunday is $20.00. All funds collected will go to the artist.
