TLC Welcomes Samuel Kibunga as the Lunch Bunch Summer Program Director

Samuel Kibunga, an international student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo pursuing studies at Nebraska Wesleyan University, has been appointed as our Lunch Brunch Manager, overseeing the daily lunch operations and ensuring a successful program. Samuel has a strong background in leadership, having held various positions at his university, including President of the International Relations Organization (IRO) and Peer Assistant in one of the campus dormitories. He is now using this experience as an intern at the leadership center, where he is further developing his leadership skills and gaining valuable work experience.

"Through my experiences at the TLC, I have come to realize that effective leadership encompasses not only leading by example, but also empowering others to take ownership of their actions and holding them accountable for their responsibilities," said Samuel. He also added, “I am so grateful to work with a kind and compassionate team that provides a safe and inclusive environment to experiment, learn from failures, and develop my skills and expertise."

As a former elementary teacher from the Congo, Samuel had more fun on facilitating his first MAPS workshop. “I was so excited to see the smiles on the faces of high scholars and everyone else in the room while facilitating on the leadership traits in Espressions Coffee Shop,” mentioned Samuel. He said that teaching is one of the things he enjoys doing.

Additionally, Samuel is enthusiastic about discovering his Working Geniuses (that are Enablement and Galvanizing), which has enabled him to gain valuable insights into his work style, strengths, and areas for improvement. Through taking the Working Genius assessment, listening to related podcasts, and reading Patrick Lencioni's book 'The 6 Types of Working Genius', Samuel has developed a deeper understanding of his work competencies, strengths, and potential areas for growth. "Prior to my arrival at The Leadership Center, I was unfamiliar with the Working Genius framework. However, I am now eager to share this valuable resource with my stuff from the International Relations Organization (IRO) club, and I look forward to having them take the assessment as well, so we can collectively benefit from a deeper understanding of our work styles and strengths " confirmed Samuel.
